Guitar, Ukulele, and Bass Lessons

Both acoustic and electric guitar lessons are offered to students in a variety of styles, including rock, blues, country, and classical genres for students age 6 and above. We balance musicianship and fun, so you can learn your favorite song or riff! Beginning students can expect to work on chords, simple strums, and basic elements, such as rhythm and harmony in their guitar lessons. Guitar lessons for intermediate and advanced students focus on scales, bass runs, dexterity, and dynamics while learning to play the songs you love. Our guitar lessons are the most comprehensive in Gwinnett, which includes theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and history.

About the Guitar

The oldest surviving guitar-like instrument comes from Ancient Egypt! By the 1800’s, Antonio Torres Jurado started building guitars in a similar fashion to the modern classical and acoustic guitars. He is often called the “Stradivari” of guitars. There are several types of guitars. The classical guitar has nylon strings and a wide neck and is used to play different styles of music, but mostly classical music – often with an ensemble. Guitarists pluck the strings with their fingers or fingernails. The acoustic guitar is similar to the classical guitar, but generally has steel strings and a thinner neck and is usually played with a pick. The electric guitar uses electronic pickups and electric amplifiers (amps) rather than a large hollow body. The electric guitar is very popular in rock, pop, and jazz music. The bass guitar plays lower notes and often works with the drums and percussion to form the rhythm section of a band.

The guitar is one of the most popular instruments in the world today. The diversity of music that can be created through the guitar gives musicians the opportunity to express their emotions and ideas in many different ways. Famous guitarists include: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, BB King, and Keith Urban.
